Come and learn about the Philly Gear Library and enjoy the workshop orientation. The Philly Gear Library will provide everything that a typical camp setup includes.

Learn more about the Philly Gear Library:

Website: www.PhillyGearLibrary.com

IG: https://www.instagram.com/phillygearlibrary...

Mission: We exist to eliminate the barrier of gear ownership in pursuit of camping and backpacking activities for minoritized and marginalized groups.

Bio: Robin Roberts - Founder of Philly Gear Library, is a practicing physical therapist with a Master’s in Physical Therapy and Business Administration and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Temple University.

Her passion for Philly Gear Library has developed from years of experiencing the joys and healing of being in nature. She also noticed that many communities of color would benefit from nature adventures, but were frequently absent. One of the major barriers that keeps people from participating is the lack of appropriate gear.

It is our major goal to eliminate the barrier of “gear” so that communities of color can participate in more outdoor experiences. Certifications: First Aid/Basic Life Support (BLS, CPR & AED), Wilderness First Responder (WFR)

We Walk PHL is a program in partnership between Fairmount Park Conservancy, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation that offers free weekly walking groups at various public parks throughout the city. Philly is continuing the #HarrietHouseParty tradition the weekend closest to Mother Tubman Day March 10th. This year we are joining the Montgomery Park System for special screening of the new PBS documentary, North to Freedom. Directed by Brian Frey of WSKG Public Television, the film tells the story of the Underground Railroad in Upstate New York. Learn about our brave freedom seeking ancestors who escaped enslavement, traveling up through Delaware and Pennsylvania to reach Canada and settle in the north. Special guest will be our sister Conductor Dee of UGR3Day featured in the film. This free screening will take place inside the Education Building at the Norristown Farm Park.
